The Painted Door Church - Chicago
The Painted Door Church is church family that gathers in Chicago, IL. We are a people who share the same story; we are sinner, saved by grace. We draw our name from the Exodus account in the Hebrew Scriptures, when God spared his people from judgement, passing over all homes that had the blood of a spotless lamb painted across their doorways. Jesus is the new spotless lamb, his death on a Roman cross sparing the people of God from judgment once for all. He reconnects us to our Maker and to each other and invites us to participate in his grand work of restoring all things.

How much do you spend on self protection? Self protection isn’t inherently bad. All of creation is designed to take refuge in something stronger than itself. Some of it is good. Some of it is bad. Some of it is true. Some of it is false. In His wisdom, God allows us to waste time, live in falsehood, and learn lessons in the freedom of His love. And then he invites us to put down the false armor. You are protected by God’s love. Faith becomes ill in sin and fear but blooms in hope and love. God’s love overflows to you, and God’s love overflows within you. Do not settle for any protection less than that.
