The Painted Door Church - Chicago
The Painted Door Church is church family that gathers in Chicago, IL. We are a people who share the same story; we are sinner, saved by grace. We draw our name from the Exodus account in the Hebrew Scriptures, when God spared his people from judgement, passing over all homes that had the blood of a spotless lamb painted across their doorways. Jesus is the new spotless lamb, his death on a Roman cross sparing the people of God from judgment once for all. He reconnects us to our Maker and to each other and invites us to participate in his grand work of restoring all things.

Holy Week Reflections: Holy Saturday
•
The Painted Door Church
On Holy Saturday we contemplate the silence of Christ in the grave. CALL TO WORSHIPLord, you know the weight of true darkness. Your bones have been broken and you have cried out in afflictionLet us remember the darkness. Lord, you know deafening silence. You were buried and laid to rest for three days. Let us remember the silence. In moments of darkness and silence you plant seeds of hope. Today we wait quietly for the hope of the salvation of the Lord. For you will not cast us off forever, nor hold your goodness from us. In silence, our souls seek after the Lord. In silence, we anticipate the glory of new life. In silence, we ponder your faithfulness across the generations. For the Lord is good to those who wait for him and brings new life to those who seek after his salvation.//CREDITSCall to Worship - Allie WatsonMatthew 27:57-66 - Cassandra FowlerLamentations 3:1-9, 19-24 - Carrie ThompsonReflection on Holy Saturday - Mark Bergin"Raise Us to New Life" - written by Kaitlyn Kleffman & Samantha ConnourBenediction - Wes Oaksmusic mixed & mastered by Alec Watsonproduced at edited by David MacKay
